If you have come to this page and have not begun writing your document, then begin at Your Ethical Will.
Next Steps To Posterity!
So you've finally completed your ethical will! Congratulations! It's your life, your story. The complete process and finished product is a reflection on and of your life! You can share the wealth of your life now with your friends and / or family, or attach it as a codicil to your legal will.
You'll definitely want to make sure the completed product is stored for safe keeping. Make copies of your ethical will so it can be distributed because those that are important in your life will want to read about your ethical legacy. They will want to know what is vital to you... your values and beliefs are important to them.
If you decide to share your ethical will with family and friends while you are living here on earth, choose a place and time that is comfortable for all.
If you enjoy nature, maybe you would like to have a picnic and invite the people that are important to you to bring their favorite food to grill plus one to share.
If you prefer a small, quiet setting, invite a few people for a gathering at your home.
However you choose to present your testimony, make it comfortable for you. You are opening your heart and soul and want to be at ease.
When you extend the invitation, explain the purpose of the get-together.
At the gathering, give a small introduction and
describe what you are going to do and why, what the will means to you and what you would like them to do with it.
You may want to give a copy to each family member or friend along with a personal note or letter to each.
There may be questions, clarifications, or insights that arise from the sharing that you'll want to add. There may be things you've forgotten that will be remembered during the sharing and you'll want to include these as well. Make it a living document.
Remember, just because you've prepared an ethical will at this time doesn't necessarily mean that you cannot add to it. An ethical will is a fluid document. Your life experiences are a work in progress and your spiritual legacy reflects those transformations. Add, edit, rewrite if you like. The more of you there is, the more it will be cherished by future generations. Live your life to fullest and leave that legacy for others to learn and grow from.
The most valuable activity you can engage in is to begin your document now.
