After spending hours writing your spiritual and ethical will your next concern is storing it properly so that it will be readily available when people need it. However, simply putting it in a filing cabinet is not good enough to keep it safe. After all a fire could destroy it or it could be found by a thief or other unauthorized person. Follow these suggestions to protect your ethical will from unauthorized access, fires and memory lapses.

The first thing that you need to think about when storing your ethical will is that it is secure, yet accessible to the right people. To accomplish both of these things you will want to keep a paper copy and a digital copy of your will in a fire safe lock box or in a safety deposit box. Then let the executor of your will know how to find your will. If you have a safety deposit box then you may want to leave a spare key with the bank and use a password to retrieve the key and the box.

The next thing that you need to think about when storing your ethical will is that it is safe from water and fire damage. A fire safe box is a good option to protect your copy of the will, however, you will also want to store a second copy of your will in both paper and digital formats. For example, you can keep one copy at home and one at your office, or one copy at home and one at a bank.

Your spiritual ethical will is a valuable item that needs to be protected. To protect your spiritual ethical will you will want to not only store it in a fire proof container, but you will also want to store your ethical will in a secure location.
