To most human beings, like our dreams and aspirations speak in terms of symbols and symbol-speak. It’s no secret that the symbols of our current age, and designs in clothing and jewelry go back to the dawn of human history. Nothing is really new it seems. It’s all an effective re-creation of what works. Hence colors and symbols in our homes can be chosen for greatest effect – with time proven colors, decorations, accessories, furniture and layouts. Your parents may have taught you to hold positive thoughts in your mind – not negative. So it’s important that we place objects, items and artwork in our abodes and even working areas that inspire and motivate us. It’s as simple as that. We need items that motivate and inspire us, not hold us back and depress us with clutter.
It’s amazing that when you really sit down, look around and begin to sort out – for “spring cleaning” how much clutter one person or a family can accumulate. Accumulation of possessions and “stuff “is insidious. It goes on and unannounced yet sequentially being additive to the rest of the piles. Not unlike Chinese water torture you might think – rightly.
Get Ready for Spring Cleaning. Some People Pathologically Acquire Too Much
Some people are ill and indeed have “a sickness” in that they cannot stop accumulating. Others while they taught of goals and indeed may quiz you “What Are Your Long-term Goals?” Yet on observation and inquiry you may well come to the conclusion that these people have “shiny object syndrome”. That is they cannot hold on to any income or savings. Everything they walk by or spot – they must have on the spot. It’s a form of immediate gratification. Like a drug. Woe to the man who takes such a woman on a vacation to Mexico – lest they be seen as walking peso. Yet others have a real sickness. Their possessions may be of no value and use to anyone yet they keep collecting. One poor soul was even spending a good chunk of his net income paying for 7 separate large storage lockers – unable to part with any of this material. Amazingly this poor soul – could even see the folly of his ways and indeed blamed everyone else for his lot in life.
Be Discriminate In Your Environment & the Possession You Acquire
In the end it can be said that Feng Shui teaches us to be discriminate on our surroundings. We both have to choose and acquire a hearty lot that will bestow its power and powers on us. Secondly we must place and arrange these articles and possessions in such a manner so as to radiate focus the goodness bestowed upon us, our families, guests and friends. Feng Shui!
